Distance Learning

Distance Education

In addition to on-site learning, South Florida Institute of Technology offers Distance Education. This is only offered for students registered for evening school.

The website created by the school for distance education is www.miapromo.com. The school acquired the necessary education licensure from Zoom to allow instructors to host several students. We are offering lecture courses to students who are enrolled in distance education via Zoom. These classes are offered only to lecture classes that exceed 25 students in size, and only in the evening school. The lecture that students (or any evaluator) would see is the same as that which they would see in person. The methodology used (Zoom) was appropriate to use and filled the need to protect our students without sacrificing the ability to be able to communicate the subject material to them and to allow them to Interact with the instructor and with the other students on a real time basis.

The equipment and technology continue to be the same as previously approved by the Commission. If a student attending an evening shift does not feel comfortable with their own device to communicate via on-line, the Institution provides the student with a tablet and ensures the student is comfortable working with the tablet before the course begins.

Instructors take attendance for every class conducted and can see students and speak with them in real time in order to ascertain their true identity. Students who do not log on and are not seen on screen by the instructor are counted as absent.

In addition, all students complete their laboratory and practical lab hours in person.
